Susan Wingert
Thanks for wanting to learn more! My name is Susan Wingert and Iām a published writer, certified workshop facilitator and health sociologist who works with the Alan Klass Program in Health and Humanities at the University of Manitoba.
I hold a doctorate in sociology from Western University, specializing in health, aging, and qualitative research methods. For a decade, I served as managing editor for The International Indigenous Policy Journal and co-directed the Aboriginal Policy Research Consortium (International). I also co-edited Aboriginal Policy Research (Volumes 3 & 4) and served as a series co-editor for Routledge Studies in Indigenous Peoples and Policy.
In 2021, I joined the Alan Klass Program in Health and Humanities as the program steward, where I develop medical school courses and facilitate professional development and wellness workshops. My research includes work with reproductive technology users, street-involved youth, Indigenous men post-incarceration, women in the sex trade, and caregivers. I have also taught university-level courses in health humanities and communication for professional practice.
